Calaguas Island

Thursday, April 07, 2016

The Calaguas is located in the Philippine province of Camarines Norte. It includes the major islands of Tinaga Island and Guintinua Island, the minor Maculabo Island, as well as several other minor islands.
Most of the islands are under the administrative jurisdiction of Vinzons, while the minor island of Maculabo is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Paracale. Recently, the island of Tinaga where the well-known long beach called Mahabang Buhangin is located is experiencing an influx of tourists despite the absence of accommodation. Campers and backpackers visit Mahabang Buhangin to experience its powdery white sands. (Wikipedia, 2016)

We had about an eight-hour drive from Quezon City to Paracale and a two-hour boat ride to Calaguas Island. Our trip was for 2D1N. The 10-hour travel was nothing compared to what we saw and experienced in the island. Like what the other tourists said, it is like Boracay without the pollution.

You will never want to leave once you see its clear turquoise waters, powdery white sands, and huge green hills.

Approaching the Island. And look at that majestic sky!

Sunrise. Glorious sunrise.

Don't mind me just passing by. Hahaha!

OMG, my arm.

A fulfilling view on top of the hill after a short trek.

My favorite part was seeing all these stars lighting up the sky. It was a jaw-dropping moment. I could not believe I am seeing part of the Milky Way. It was very... enchanting.

This trip was quick compared to the Mindoro trip I had and the waters and beach was also different. Which makes me appreciate the Philippines more. It's beaches are all different, all unique. Imagine how many beaches are out there. Imagine the marine life, the corals, the locals, the experience, the stories. Philippines is beautiful. I hope I get a chance to travel around it soon.
